Aloha! My name is Karen and I am a licensed Elementary and Special Education teacher with the Hawaii Department of Education. I have taught at 5 elementary schools all in Honolulu district for a total of 15 years. I have taught grades 1-3 & 5-8th. I have extensive experience teaching special needs. Specifically children who are Autistic, mentally/emotionally challenged, down syndrome & students in wheelchairs. I’ve worked as a reading and math tutor, and I am also the Mom of a wonderful daughter! I’m an active, fun and patient sitter. I love swimming and body boarding, music, playing with games and toys, reading stories, making arts and crafts, and visiting the zoo, parks, aquarium and other sites around the island. I provide childcare for all ages from infants to teens including twins. Most of my childcare experience is over the summer & holiday breaks when school is out of session. For 5 months 2-3 days per week I both tutored & babysat for a family that had 3 children ages 6, 8 & 10 years old. I would help them with their homework, make them dinner, & put them to bed. Other families I babysat for would come to Hawaii on vacation when their children were on school break & I would keep their children safe & entertained so the entire family could better enjoy their experience.
