Aloha! My name is Judy and I had the great good fortune to leave my hometown, New York City,
\nin 1978 to move to Honolulu. I am the mother of two Eurasian children who were very lucky to
\nhave spent their magical childhoods in this sacred, beautiful place. Childhood is the foundation
\non which a child\u2019s social, emotional, wellness and spiritual lives are built. Caring for young
\nchildren along their journeys is a joy as well as a privilege. I take your child\u2019s safety very
\nseriously and am extremely sensitive to their needs and feelings. I am CPR\/AED certified and
\nadhere to all protocols to keep myself and your child safe during the pandemic.<\/p>\n
I was one of 6 children who had to learn how to keep my younger siblings clean, safe, and
\nentertained by the time I was 8 years old. Our family attended Church services where I learned
\ncore values: honesty, integrity, respect, charity. I believe it is my job to model those values for
\nchildren so that they may be prepared for the many responsibilities ahead.<\/p>\n
My first job at the age of 14 years was at the New York Public Library. Being a book worm, it was
\nmy teen dream job. The children\u2019s librarian always requested me to be assigned to the
\nChildren\u2019s Room. She noticed the way I interacted with children. I found that I could interest
\nlittle ones in reading. In 1983 I began reading aloud in public schools throughout Honolulu. I
\nalso write poetry. I designed workshops to teach Middle School students how to express their
\nfeelings in rhyme.<\/p>\n
In addition to being a literacy advocate, I am certified by the Institute for Multi-Sensory
\nEducation to teach dyslexic children ages 5-8. I provide private tutorials to support struggling
\nreaders. During the pandemic, I homeschooled two boys, ages 4 and 6 years old. Below is a brief
