THE BEST OF THE BEST
The Hawaiian word “kahu” means we are given the honor to care for another. Guardian, protector, someone entrusted with the care of something precious or cherished. It’s a term that reflects a deeper connection & responsibility towards the one being cared for.
Our list of Kahu is a list of shining stars. They have taken their care providing to the next level by offering their own services directly to clients. They are their own business entity, operating as a sole proprietor, limited liability company, or corporation. They are registered with the state of Hawaii to provide their care services directly to you. They are their own supervisor, employer, & boss. Having this status allows them to keep more of the money you pay to them, which we know is important to you. Being an independent care provider also allows them to provide the flexible service you are seeking (on-call, short-term, occasional, one-time, etc.).
As you will see from reading the bio’s below, they are the BEST of the best. We have higher qualification standards than one would expect to ensure that you receive the best experience.
Covid Safety Announcement: All kahu are fully vaccinated, with the exception of those who have an exemption. In their private lives, they are conscientious that protecting their own health will protect the health of the kupuna that are entrusted to be in their care. For additional compensation, they would be happy to take a COVID rapid test prior to their arrival to give you additional assurance. Please be sure to let our Director know if you have a vaccination preference so we can further ensure a perfect match. Mahalo!

My name is Annette, and I am dedicated to providing compassionate companionship care to seniors with the same attention and respect I would offer my own family. My approach to caregiving is built on trust, reliability, and open communication, ensuring not only the well-being of my elder clients but also peace of mind for their families. In addition to companionship, I offer a range of services, including light housekeeping, running errands, providing transportation to medical appointments, meal preparation, and being a patient, attentive listener. I believe that keeping families updated is essential to delivering the best possible care.
I take joy in engaging with my clients through activities like reading out loud, puzzles, playing games, coloring, arts and crafts, and going for walks. I am calm, soft-spoken, and patient, which allows me to create a peaceful and supportive environment for those I care for. I hold current certifications in First Aid and CPR, and I am fully up-to-date on TB, Flu, COVID-19, RSV and Tdap vaccinations. In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my grandson, walking my dog, and reading. I look forward to the opportunity to care for your loved ones and to becoming a trusted part of your family’s care team.

Aloha, my name is Kelcy and I am a mom with 3 kids ages 28, 23, and 11 years old. I am currently a Nanny for guests staying at Oahu’s resorts and private residences and a sub-contracted Housecleaner. My credentials include former Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) attending training at the Waianae Health Academy under the University of Hawaii, Registered Behavioral Tech (RBT) working with child and adults with disabilities such as Autism and Down syndrome and former rideshare driver for Lyft which included community volunteering for the Meals on Wheels program. My history working with seniors/grand-friends in an adult day center include assisting with eating, bathroom, light cleaning, companionship care, dressing, meal preparation and clean-up, medication prompting and prep, activities such as games, art, music, exercise and with conditions such as Dementia, Alzheimers, Paraplegia, Arthritis, Diabetes, bladder incontinence, etc. In a private residence, I provided transportation to and from doctor appointments, grocery shopping, errands, light cooking, housecleaning, companionship, medication prompting, bathing, dressing, feeding assistance, laundry, bathroom, wheelchair transporting or just an extra set of hands for short or long-term conditions including both family and non-family members. As we get older, undergo certain medical conditions or procedures requiring specialized care, we are seeking our independence to do the things we are unable to do whether it’s short or long term. I believe that providing assistance with these activities of everyday living (ADL) helps make a difference in someone’s life as well as give them their independence in their every day living. At the end of the day, helping others gives me a sense of self-gratification and importance knowing I was able to provide a certain level of care for others in need.

Aloooooha! My name is Synthia. I have 4 beautiful children of my own. From a young age caring for other family members and watching other family care for myself and others, it comes natural caring for kids and knowing that all children are not the same. They are special in their own way just need to find out what catches their attention. I’ve worked with Aloha Sitters since the beginning of 2017 and for most of that time I’ve been a Lead Sitter for the Group Child Care division, caring for a group as small as 2 to as many as 60 children at a time. I provide all the games, toys & crafts to keep the children safe, educated & entertained for as many as 26 hours (spread over 3 day events). We divide the children into 2 ages groups: 0-3yrs & 4-12yrs. I’m typically assigned to ages 0-3yrs. I am very comfortable with baby’s & toddlers; following their routine feeding/sleeping schedule, comforting them, providing positive distractions so they don’t notice that Mom is away & rocking them to sleep. The crafts & games that I play with the little ones assists with developing their social emotional, physical & cognitive skills. When assigned to ages 4-12 years, I follow an educational activities agenda, building the children emotional intelligence, resiliency, character growth, & we have a full anti-bullying campaign I take them through. The activities are disguised as fun, so the kids don’t even realize they are learning until the end. Haha. It is a task but the outcome is always awesome. Thinking of different ways to keep all the kids happy and entertained while being apart from their parents can be challenging but it’s a challenge I look forward to overcoming to the best of my abilities. I have my CPR and AED certificate. I also work at an Elementary school in the office and completed a training on administrating an epi pen and the generic brand. I was born & raised on Oahu. I speak a little Hawaiian & very few words of Laotian & Samoan. I also play the ukulele. I look forward to meeting your family and helping make your time on vacation memorable!
