- How much do I have to pay for a nanny?
- See our price list by clicking here
- How does the process work?
- When you call to place a reservation with a sitter/nanny, we will then text the job out to all of the sitters in our database. Of the ones available for your event, we will then pick out the most qualified one and send you a confirmation via text message/email with your assigned sitter’s contact information (phone/email), picture, and qualifications for you to review. If all looks good, we will then proceed to send the sitter out to your location on the specific dates/times you’ve requested. If you’ve enjoyed using your sitter, you may continue to use her for the remainder of your stay, so long as she’s available, at no additional cost.
- Do I have to pay for nanny’s parking?
- In most cases, you won’t have to. There are only 2 hotels on island that don’t offer a free alternative for parking which are the Disney Aulani and the Kahala. In these cases, we ask that you kindly pay for sitter’s parking by either handing her cash or having her validate her parking ticket at the front desk so it will be charged to your room.
- Will we get to meet the nanny prior to our reservation date?
- Yes, you may arrange for this, but sitter’s hourly rate will still apply. Our sitters do a great job at reaching out to their assigned families via phone calls, texts, and emails. However, in the case that you’d like further interaction with her prior to your visit, you may request to do a video call such as Skype or FaceTime.
- Who do I contact if I have questions or want to book a nanny?
- Please call director @ 808-861-7294 or email us at ContactAlohaSitters@gmail.com.
- What’s the weather going to be like in Hawaii?
- Hawaii’s weather is very tropical. It’s mostly sunny year-round with highs in the 80s and lows being in the 70s on average. In some cases, due to the tropical climate, there are randomly sprinkled rain-showers in different parts of the island. Bring plenty of sunblock (UV rays are much stronger here than in other places), summer clothing, and a compact umbrella in case of arbitrary rainfall.
- Can the nanny take my children off hotel property?
- In many cases, with parent’s consent, the sitter may take children to the pool, beach, hotel lobby, or anywhere within walking distance of hotel/vacation location or your home.
- Can the nanny drive my child to different places/events/activities around the island?
- No, they cannot drive or transport children anywhere in a personal vehicle. Our liability insurance doesn’t cover automobiles, therefore they would not be permitted by our company to transport children in personal vehicles. However, if this is a service that you need, we recommend paying for sitter’s and children’s bus fares or for a transportation service (i.e. UBER or a taxi).
- Can your nannies be used with childcare assistance programs?
- No, they cannot. Our sitters are contracted with us and are paid an hourly rate in cash at the end of every day worked.
- Can the nanny administer medication?
- No, they are not permitted to administer medication.
- How much time would I need in advance to reserve a nanny?
- For night-time reservations, please call at least 6-hours in advance. For daytime reservations, please call at least 24-hours in advance.
- If booking a sitter for a future event, please contact us no sooner than 3-weeks out from your vacation. Most sitters do not know their schedules more than 3-weeks out & can be hesitant to commit to a job further out than that.
- Do your nannies care for children with special needs? If so, how much are the rates?
- Yes, we have sitters that can care for children with special needs. Aloha Sitters believes in the value & dignity of every child, so you can trust that the information given to us will only be used to provide quality childcare without judgement or prejudice.
- Sitter’s rates vary depending on the need, but you can expect to pay anywhere from $2-5/hour extra.
- Are you open for services on holidays?
- Yes, we are. However, holiday rates are time and a half. For example, $17/hr on a holiday would be $25.50/hr.
- Office may be open for half-days on holidays.
- Do we have to tip the nanny? If so, what is the average rate?
- Tips are always appreciated, but they’re not expected. As far as a tipping rate, the standard 20% would make a sitter very happy.
- What if I need/want a different nanny?
- Just give us a call at the office and we will set you up with another sitter that can accommodate your family’s needs. Additional service fee may apply.
- Do you service local families?
- Yes, we do!
