Renee Kinchla
Hi, my name is Renee Kinchla! I grew up in Massachusetts and moved to Honolulu after graduating from Cornell University. Currently, I work for the University of Hawaii in natural resource planning and environmental health and safety. I’m very familiar with Oahu’s unique landscape, plants, and geology and can legit answer the million questions some kids have about “what is this thing” or “where does sand come from” (sometimes it’s not what you expect!). When I was younger, I worked at a children’s library and summer program where I had to create original craft/entertainment for groups of kids (3 to 11). Now that I have reached “auntie” age I have been babysitting my friend’s and teammates’ kids so that they can have some nights to go out! I like to hang out with kids outdoors because it’s usually more interesting and fun! However, I have developed weird indoor craft skills like making enormous and elaborate cardboard Halloween costumes since my mom was an elementary art teacher. One of my favorite hobbies is roller skating, and I am also a confident open ocean swimmer/casual surfer who is knowledgeable about ocean conditions. My goal is always to have fun, and be safe doing it!
