Nora Moran
Hello families! My name is Nora. For the past 6 years I have worked full-time as a nanny, babysitter, and tutor for many different families all over the state of California. I graduated from Azusa Pacific University in May of 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. I recently moved to Oahu and I hope to continue working with kids and families for as long as I can, and possibly enter into the field of education in the future. My Sociology studies really highlighted for me how important raising up good future generations is for society. This is something I am very passionate about. My childcare experience up to this point has included both short and long term positions with kids as young as newborns to young adults with special needs. Before moving to Oahu I worked as an on-call babysitter for an agency in Orange County, CA which allowed me to meet new families almost every week, and have many fun adventures with the children I cared for. I have also been paired with families long term in the past, one as long as 4 years! Some families I have been with now even consider me a part of their family, which is why I love my job so much! Being able to work this closely with children and watch them grow is a truly priceless experience.
My volunteer work includes working in classrooms as a teacher aide. I took 2 college courses that required me to work with groups of students in the 4th and 5th grade: helping with and grading assignments, creating and teaching lessons, and assisting with playground supervision. I also did an internship in high school where I worked on a ranch for adults and high school students that have autism. I assisted the students with assignments and helped lead the adults in their jobs caring for the ranch.
I am a very patient, extroverted person and I love working in this field because of the relationships I am able to build. I also love being around animals, as well as being active during my free time with activities such as swimming, surfing, yoga, and slack-lining. One of the things I absolutely love about working in childcare is getting to incorporate hobbies that my kids also love into my everyday work life, whether that’s playing the ukulele, swimming, making bracelets, painting, or doing other fun crafts! I look forward to meeting you 🙂
