Makenna Given
Aloha! I’m Makenna. I am in my twenties and I am from sunny Palm Springs, California! I found my passion for childcare at a super young age. I lived for caring for my dolls as my own children and bringing them everywhere I went since I was 3. When it came time to start raising some money for myself, I put flyers out in my neighborhood at just 13 years old and started my own little babysitting company! I loved it so much that I just knew it was what I was always meant to do. I then got accepted into California State University San Marcos and started towards getting my degree in elementary education. Since moving for college and doing most of it online, I have become a full-time nanny and have worked for several more families throughout the past few years. I’ve had the opportunity to watch over infants, toddlers and kids all the way up to tweens. I’ve had families take me on vacation with them, have me do household chores, make meals for their kids, take them to swim lessons, therapy sessions, sports practices, activities such as beaches, pools, parks, zoos, amusement parks, museums, have them learn to be potty trained, homeschooled, and even sleep trained. I worked for some families for a minimum of a year as well as having multiple families for occasional sitting, some of them having kids with special needs or sets of twins. I have also volunteered at multiple childcare summer camps such as church camps and gymnastic camps, being in charge of up to 10 kids at a time! Over the years, I have grown a fond connection towards the littles and am taking a gap year off school to move to Hawaii, get my doula certification to learn more about newborns, and nanny in a dream location. I know that no matter what path I decide to go down, I am always meant to work with kids. I am nurturing, loving, creative, positive and determined! I love playing with kids, making up games, going to fun places and helping them learn and grow. Some fun facts about me are that I was a cheerleader all my life and became cheer captain in high school which led me into leadership organizations. I also have a strong passion for singing/acting and always played music/performed growing up. I’m so excited for what this next adventure holds and I cannot wait to meet your keikis!
