Lisa McGuire
Aloha! My name is Lisa McGuire. I am a teacher and a mother of two incredibly amazing boys. I have been a teacher in both public and private schools for twenty years. I have taught students of all grade levels, ranging from third grade through high school. Most recently I was teaching English & Spanish full time thats right, Im fluent in Spanish! I have chosen to take a leave of absence so that I may go back to school to work on my Master’s degree in Special Education. I feel like I have learned so much from my students. They have taught me patience and compassion, and they have inspired me to stay young at heart. I also worked as a Tutor for 2 schools & 1 Learning Center. I specialize in tutoring students with dyslexia. I have also worked for Catholic Services to Families here on Oahu. My husband and I worked as Family Teachers in a group home setting, which serviced seriously emotionally challenged children. In addition to raising my own children & caring for my 18 month old niece, I have also babysat professionally for 2 years caring for the children of families on vacation & as a teenager, I babysit children at my church for ages 0-10 years old while their parents attended evening services. My inspiration has always been my kids, not just my own boys, but my students as well. My boys inspire me to enjoy life to the fullest. I love swimming, hiking, boating, horseback riding and going on fun-filled cruises. I always travel with other families and friends, and the kids always have a blast wherever we go! I was on the swim team as a child so I am very comfortable in the water if you would like me to take your children swimming. I look forward to having the opportunity to spend time with your kids and to help them truly enjoy all that Hawaii has to offer.
