Dina Fernandez
Aloha My name is Dina Fernandez. You can call me Dina, Aunty Dina, or Aunty D. I was born and raised in California. I speak some Spanish and I recently started taking Hawaiian language lessons. I first visited this beautiful island in 2009. I fell in love with the island and culture, so one year later we decided to make Oahu our permanent home. We connected to the community quickly, first serving with our local church, and then helping in the food banks, which we continue to be involved with since 2010. I have also worked with a Youth non-profit and volunteered at a homeless shelter. Compassion is so important, and it goes a long way; we never know what someone may be going through. In my early teens, I would volunteer with my mother at the local convalescent hospital. At that time my heart at a young age was formed to care for others, no matter the age. My very first responsible job was caring for the kids next door after school and babysitting for families in the neighborhood. My heart has always been to love, care, and help others grow in a positive way. I was fortunate enough to be a home mother for the first seven years with my children and those in my extended family. I volunteered at their schools, help with after-school programs, sports activities, etc. I cared for my nieces and nephews from infants until they went to school. I was family daycare, and I am happy to say I was that aunty. I am a mother of three adults and a grandmother to eight amazing kids, ranging from the ages of 3 yrs to 20 yrs. Children are the most precious gems anyone can be gifted with. I have much love to give. I enjoy many outdoor activities such as sports, swimming, walking or just having a great conversation with a child. Their imaginations are just amazing. I love arts and crafts, and can be silly as well. I will do my best to keep your child’s little heart and needs met, keeping him/her happy and entertained. A child that is in my care is cared for as if they were my own. I will care for them with patience and kindness. I will speak to a child with respect. I will protect and I will keep his/her safety my priority. I look forward to meeting you.
